Starting as collectors as many dealers do, The
Rosss opened the gallery and began their second careers in
November of 1997, having sold their businesses and their Manhattan
brownstone and moved to the country. Since then the business
has expanded from a 300-foot
shop with a thousand posters in stock to its present multifaceted
eminence.
On this day, Jodi Ross was preparing to
drive to Maine to retrieve her 12-year-old daughter--the youngest
of the family's three children--from sleep away camp.
"She called and said get me out of here, the pool's
too cold and the lake is full of fish'" said Ross.
The marketing of vintage posters may evolve, but parenting,
it seems never changes.
